Teething


Teething

Baby's first tooth may appear anytime between 3mo and 1year.Teething may cause mild gum pain. The degree of discomfort varies from child to child. It may also accompany with fever.

Whats the order of baby's teeth
  • 2 lower incisors
  • 4 upper incisors
  • 2 lower incisors and all 4 first molars
  • 4 canines
  • 4 second molars

What to do when your baby is teething?
  • Gum massage: massage it with you finger for 2 minutes with your fingers or ice
  • Teething rings: use cold teething rings which are filled with liquid. Infants also like wet wash cloth. Avoid ice or forzen objects as this can cause frostbite. Also, avoid hard objects to prevent from choking
  • Diet: Avoid salty or acid foods.
  • Medication: if pain increases give acetaminophen [Tylenol]. Avoid using teething gels as they contain benzocaine, as this can cause allergic reaction.
When to call doctor?
  • Baby develops a fever of 101 degree Fahrenheit or 38.3 Celsius
  • Baby develops crying
