Infant CPR

Choking is the number one cause of death among infants and toddlers . Babies can choke on toys, food, get caught in curtain cords. If this situation ever happens, you must be able to perform CPR on your baby. Please set aside few hours in learning this technique from a certified teacher as doing them improperly can be harmful.

Here are few guidelines for a conscious infant:

  1. Give up to 5 back blows by the heel of your hand between shoulder blades. Always keep the head lower than the trunk and support baby on thighs
  2. Give up to 5 chest thrust in rapid succession by using two fingers over the lower half of the breast bone. Always keep the head lower than the trunk.
  3. Repeat until the object is dislodged or the infant is unconscious
